Ally is a writer and licensed electrician with extensive DIY, home-improvement and construction experience. In her more than 200 articles and how-to projects for Reader's Digest and The Family Handyman, Ally has tapped into her extensive professional expertise and personal experience to distill complex and technical information into engaging, approachable content for audiences of all skill levels. Her work is also informed by her passion for cleaning and maintaining a healthy home environment, honed over more than a decade working in microbiology and quality control for bioMérieux, an internationally respected food-safety laboratory. Winner of the Outstanding Graduate award from the Minneapolis Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, Ally maintains her electrical license and membership in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
