For Target shoppers, the holidays are arriving early this year, and the retailer is delivering a gift that is on everyone’s list: lower prices. Though the store has been quietly reducing prices on everyday items for months, some of the most impactful price drops are hitting shelves across the country just in time for you to do your holiday shopping. Considering the season is already expensive, these cost savings are welcome news for everyone from here to the North Pole.

Which products are about to be cheaper at Target?

If you plan to visit your local Target anytime soon, you’ll likely start to notice price reductions throughout the store on a wide range of products. Food and beverages, Christmas gifts, items to help you get your home ready for the holidays and a variety of essential everyday items will be more affordable as the holidays grow nearer.

Shoppers will be able to save big on some of the most popular gifts, like the hottest toys, board games and beauty products. You’ll also see some savings on items you need to entertain guests, including snacks, drinks, frozen veggies and desserts (’tis the season to stock up on cookies and ice cream!). Customers can even save money on things like bath towels and over-the-counter medicines—because you’re bound to catch a cold this winter.

Target is slashing prices in stores across the country, though costs will vary from region to region. Examples of the new low prices include:

Why is Target dropping prices?

Target is lowering prices on holiday items and groceries to help shoppers preserve the magic of the holiday season and spread some festive cheer without worrying quite as much about how much they’re spending. “We know families are excited to celebrate the holidays, so Target is committed to helping them find joy without compromise—with great products across our assortment at even lower prices,” Rick Gomez, Target’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, said in a statement.

Of course, there may be another explanation for the change: Lower prices might be one of the ways Target gets you to spend more. With so many ways to save, how can anyone resist?

When do the price reductions go into effect?

Reduced prices are already available in some areas of the country, and they’ll continue rolling out throughout the holiday season.

It’s all part of a greater price-reduction effort that the retailer hopes will help it remain competitive. In May, the company said it aimed to save shoppers millions of dollars across the board by dropping prices on roughly 5,000 items—then it exceeded its goal by lowering prices on more than 8,000 items. By the time we ring in the new year, Target will have dropped its prices on a seriously impressive 10,000 items.

How long will the lower prices stick around?

While some of Target’s price drops are here only for the holidays (think: deals on toys and other popular gifts), shoppers can take solace in knowing that many of these new, lower prices are here to stay.
