There’s no denying that unpacking a massive haul of cheap clothes is exciting. A whole new wardrobe for $100 can feel like a major score. That is until those cheap clothes inevitably begin falling apart at the seams or they go out of style. When it comes to shopping, fast fashion is not the way to go. So, where can you buy high-quality, sustainable items without spending a fortune? Meet Quince.
The viral direct-to-consumer brand has become a go-to spot for luxury items at affordable prices. At least it has for our editors, who have tested a variety of items from the brand over the years. And since many of us, including yours truly, have forked over our own hard-earned cash for luxe goods, we decided it was time to compare notes and present you with completely honest Quince reviews.
For high-quality fashion and home furnishings, turn to Quince. This online retailer cuts our the middle man so you can save big on sustainable styles.
Quince is an e-commerce company that has been offering luxe pieces at affordable prices since 2018. We’re talking affordable leather jackets, silk pajamas and oh-so-soft cashmere sweaters. You won’t find anything super trendy as the brand aims to create timeless designs—think capsule wardrobe pieces—that you’ll wear season after season. Quince is also a go-to spot for home goods, including bedding and luggage.
The brand is committed to sustainability, choosing organic materials whenever possible, using minimal packing materials and shipping directly from their factories. Speaking of factories, Quince only partners with factories that meet or exceed global guidelines for workplace safety and equitable wages.
As mentioned above, our team has tested Quince products from almost every category: clothing, luggage, accessories and home goods. We have evaluated each product on its comfort, quality, functionality and longevity. Here’s what you need to know before embarking on the shopping spree of a lifetime.
You won’t find loud or uber trendy designs at Quince. The brand intentionally creates clothing with a classic aesthetic that you’ll wear time and time again. And while their clothing is affordable, the quality is on par with high-end brands.
Former deputy editor Megan Wood calls the brand’s famed $50 cashmere sweater the most comfortable thing she owns. She hails its softness, versatility and high quality, noting that after 50 wears, it still looks good as new. “Some affordable cashmere sweaters just don’t feel all that soft. That’s not the case with Quince cashmere, which feels cozy to the touch. And, it’s not sheer or see-through (another problem with competing affordable cashmere),” she writes in her full Quince cashmere review.
Wood isn’t the only one obsessed with Quince cashmere. Thanks to their affordable prices and the fact that they are made from 100% grade A Mongolian cashmere, I treated myself to not one but two of the brand’s oversized boyfriend cardigan sweaters. As a mom of four kids ranging in age from 2 to 10, I’m at a stage in my life where I don’t have the luxury of taking it easy on my clothes. In other words, these sweaters have taken a beating over the last couple of years. And you know what? You’d never know it by looking at them. I’m so impressed by how well they’ve held up that I have since ordered more, including this fisherman knit crewneck sweater that goes with, well, everything.
Next, our tester, Andrea Carillo, gave Quince’s silk pajamas a glowing review for their comfort, value and the fact that they are machine washable. Made of 100% mulberry silk, Carillo explains that these aren’t the slippery, shiny satin you might be thinking of. Instead, they are a super soft fabric that naturally thermoregulates to maintain body temperature. This makes them an excellent product for hot sleepers.
Quince offers several silhouettes to choose from, including pants and shorts, button-up tops, tank tops and T-shirts. Carillo chose black pajama pants and a matching button-up top, which she says are more of a dark gray than a true black. “Beware that there’s not much stretch, but they did feel buttery on my skin and moved with me,” she writes in her full silk pajamas review. “The pants have a slit from knee to ankle, adding even more breathability, and the button-up top has a cropped fit. The fabric itself reminds me of suede, but smoother.”
Another standout product from the brand is the leather motorcycle jacket. This wardrobe staple is made of 100% sheep leather and is as soft as they come. I ordered this jacket last fall in hopes of branching out from the typical leggings and oversized shirt combo I’ve been sporting for far too long. Initially, I thought it would be clunky and restrictive. But once it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by how soft and flexible it is. I can move around and even pick my children up with ease while wearing it. And best of all, it goes with pretty much everything! I’ve worn it out with friends, on date nights and have even thrown it on to run some errands.
This sweater is made from 100% grade-A Mongolian cashmere. It's available in a dozen colors and only costs $50.
Made of 100% mulberry silk, these pajamas are super soft and thermoregulating. Plus, they're machine washable.
Made from 100% top-grain sheep leather, this motorcycle jacket is unbelievably soft. Better yet, it never goes out of style.
Just one high-quality suitcase can set you back hundreds of dollars. A whole luggage set? We’d rather not think about that hefty price tag. So when Quince dropped their own affordable luggage bundle, we ran for our wallets.
Our tester, Nina Derwin, was successful in scoring the highly sought-after set. Shortly after its arrival, Derwin packed Quince’s 21-inch carry-on and 27-inch check-in for a 10-day trip. Derwin was certain that she had overpacked but was pleasantly surprised to discover that the luggage’s internal compression system had her covered.
“I had to pack for a pretty broad assortment of climates, ranging from tropical beach weather to a chilly Chicago spring. I needed enough space to pack my favorite wool and cashmere sweaters right alongside my bikini and my warm socks next to my flip-flops,” she writes in her Quince luggage review. “It seemed like no matter how much I tried to stuff into the carry-on, I never had any trouble zipping it closed. I didn’t use any of my go-to Amazon travel accessories, like packing cubes or shoe bags, because it simply wasn’t necessary.”
During her trip, which included two flights, 5 days on a cruise ship and another five days on the road, Derwin’s luggage emerged with nothing more than a few minor scratches and scuffs. “Hard luggage immediately shows signs of wear and tear. Ultimately, I don’t mind the scuffs because all of my things were kept safe and remained organized inside my suitcases,” she says.
This bundle includes two hard shell suitcases that feature internal compression panels, 360 degree wheels, TSA-approved locks, telescopic handles and YKK zippers.
Ah, there’s nothing like snuggling into a bed outfitted with soft sheets and cozy blankets. Luckily, Quince offers both. Quince bedding is OEKO-TEX certified, meaning it’s free of harmful chemicals. You’ll find all-natural materials like linen, silk, organic cotton, bamboo and, yes, even cashmere.
Former home editor Bryce Gruber gave her bed a total makeover with Quince’s linen sheets and velvet quilt set and couldn’t say enough good things about them.
“Hot sleepers need these. I love how soft and light mine are and how versatile they are for year-round use,” she writes in her Quince sheets review. “Each set of Quince linen sheets costs about half of what big-name brands sell them for, making them a brilliant buy. Aside from minor wrinkling, they get a near-perfect score in my book.” Her feelings about the quilt set were similar.
Gruber raves about the quilt’s softness, going as far as to say that it belongs in a five-star hotel. This quilt is yarn-dyed and hand-crafted by artisans in India and is made of 100% cotton velvet with a 100% cotton sateen backing. It features timeless contrast box stitching that will add a touch of elegance to your bed.
“It’s glamorous, cozy and easy to care for. The plush 100% cotton material dresses up even cheap mattresses and basic boxed beds,” writes Gruber in her Quince bedding review. “I love that the set is machine washable and how quickly it transforms an otherwise vanilla bedroom.”
If you want to add some texture to your space, Quince also carries a selection of cozy blankets. We especially love the cotton fisherman throw for its luxurious feel and overall functionality. Our tester, Madi Koetting, calls this the queen of all throw blankets in her review.
“Not only does the woven texture offer a timeless look worthy of displaying on the couch, bed or armchair—the cotton throw has a delicate weight perfect for cuddling up with at any time of the year (read: no night sweats!),” she writes. “I’m impressed by how well the woven texture holds up. It has never once pilled, frayed or fallen apart despite my puppy constantly scratching and chewing on it.”
These bed sheets are available in sizes spanning twin through California King. They fit mattresses up to 16-inches deep and get softer with every wash.
This hand-stitched bedding set includes a quilt and matching shams.
Just one snuggle session is all you need to understand why this is one of our favorite throw blankets.
My youngest daughter’s bedroom has a large, arched window that lets a ton of natural light into the room. I love how bright it is, but it doesn’t bode well for sleeping. Blackout curtains are a must. Given the size of the window, curtains and hardware weren’t going to be cheap. I headed over to Quince, where I found these heavyweight room-darkening curtains. They cost a fraction of what similar panels I had my eye on run, so I took a chance and ordered them in white.
When they arrived, I was sure I would have to break out my steamer to de-wrinkle them. Imagine my surprise when there were no creases to be found. I was equally as impressed by their substantial heft and thrilled by how well they darkened her room, especially since there are no blinds covering the arched part of the window. In short, these curtains are positively perfect.
In addition to curtains, Quince offers a line of rugs, many of which are made-to-order, home decor and housewares like Japanese steel knives, flatware and table linens. They’ve even added a furniture line which currently includes sofas and upholstered beds.
These heavyweight curtains have two lining options: light filtering and room darkening.
If you’re looking for high-quality clothing and goods that won’t leave you with a bad case of buyer’s remorse, then Quince is your one-stop shop. They offer everything from sustainable clothing and accessories to housewares, rugs and furniture.
And their low prices aren’t due to cheap labor and materials. Quince’s affordable prices are possible because the brand doesn’t rely on a traditional supply chain, which includes sourcing agents, warehousing, wholesaling, distribution and storefront retail. Instead, they ship products from factories directly to your home.
Better yet, they offer free standard shipping and have a generous 365-day return policy on most items. Though we’re confident you’ll love your Quince items so much that you won’t want to return them.
