McRib fans, rejoice! McDonald’s is spreading the holiday cheer early this year by finally bringing back the legendary sandwich. The fast-food restaurant chain has heard the pleas of McRib lovers everywhere, and at long last, it has heeded the call.

When is the McRib sandwich returning to McDonald’s?
If you’re counting down the days until the McRib returns, we have some good news for you: You won’t have to wait very long. Starting on Dec. 3, you’ll be able to order the McRib sandwich through the McDonald’s app, at the drive-thru and in person at all participating restaurants.
Here’s a fun McDonald’s McRib fact: The sandwich has been a fan favorite since its 1981 debut, but it was removed from the permanent menu in 2005. Since then, McDonald’s has brought it back several times, including for a nationwide stint in 2020 and a “farewell tour” in 2022. Evidently, fans weren’t ready to say goodbye, and the McRib will soon to be back for another run.
What is the surprising new menu addition?
Even though McDonald’s has brought back the McRib before, the fast-food restaurant is adding a special twist this time around. For the first time ever, you can bring home a half-gallon jug of McDonald’s famous McRib sauce, which the chain has aptly named A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce.
“The McRib is more than a sandwich—it’s a part of culture. It’s a legend. It’s an event,” Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s chief marketing and customer experience officer, said in a press release. “McRib SZN (season) is a holiday unto itself, so we wanted to embrace that spirit and give fans an even bigger way to celebrate this year with A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce.”
Each jug costs $19.99 and is available online only from the Whole Lotta McRib Sauce website. You can buy your very own jug of the saucy stuff starting Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. ET, but inventory is limited, so don’t wait too long!
How long will the McRib sandwich be available for?
‘Tis the season to head to McDonald’s—and we do mean season. The McRib sandwich is available only for a limited time at participating restaurants nationwide.
