At first glance, it looks like Costco sells absolutely everything, from bulk paper towels to jeans. But some of the very standard grocery items are missing from its shelves. And while we love how Costco keeps its prices so low, coming up empty-handed for that one product you really need to complete your cart can feel like a real bummer. A shopping betrayal, even, since it means you’ll have to make a second trip to a regular grocery store.

With that in mind, the warehouse store is always shifting around its products, debuting new private-label items and, in other cases, discontinuing some Kirkland items. That’s what keeps the place feeling like a veritable treasure hunt with every visit. And there are a few new items popping up in Costco stores this spring—and one, in particular, that has people excited.

What Kirkland product is being introduced?

Meet Kirkland Signature Crispy French Fries, a 5-pound bag of frozen fries and the latest addition to the Costco freezer section. Previously Costco only sold Ore-Ida fries in its regular warehouses, though I have been able to find a few other brands in my local Costco Business Center. Still, a Kirkland variety of frozen fried taters is a pretty major development.

While the new release was announced publicly during Costco’s Q2 2025 earnings call on March 6, shoppers shared on Reddit that they started spotting them in stores in early January.

What are the early reviews on Kirkland frozen french fries?

So far, the reviews are all positive, with much of Reddit hoping these fries will also become available in Costco’s food court soon.

“Bought these on Sunday,” said one Costco customer on Reddit. “They are a pretty decent fry. Thicker cut and potato forward. I love them. Bought instead of the ore-ida and won’t be going back as long as they sell them.”

Another was impressed by their crispy coating. “They are pretty good,” said a shopper on the same Reddit thread. “They crisp up nicely in the toaster oven and almost have a potato starch powder on some to crisp like curly fries.”

Still others compared them to Lamb Weston’s hand-cut-style fries, which they claim is a huge compliment.

Of course, with any buzzy new Costco product, there’s bound to be a sell-out risk. And that appears to be true with the Kirkland fries. “They’ve been out of stock at my store every time I’ve gone since they released—people must like them,” lamented another Redditor.

How much do the Kirkland frozen french fries cost?

The 5-pound bag of Kirkland Signature Crispy French Fries costs $6.79 at Costco—with the price breaking down to roughly $1.36 per pound. That makes for a good deal, especially if you compare the cost to Lamb Weston’s Hand Cut Style Fries available on Amazon Fresh, where a 1.75-pound bag sells for $5.99, or $3.42 per pound. The new Kirkland fries ring at 60% less than the revered Lamb Weston’s brand.

Where are they available?

Eventually, Kirkland Signature Crispy French Fries will be available in Costco warehouses nationwide. Unfortunately, those on the East Coast may have to wait a bit longer. Currently, the fries seem to be easier to find in the western half of the U.S., at least according to Reddit.

However Gary Millerchip, Costco’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, did say in the earnings calls that the french fries are joining two other new items this quarter: Kirkland Signature Vodka and Soda canned cocktails and Kirkland Signature Lager. This indicates that every warehouse should have them soon. Those of us on the East Coast can only hope!
