Egg lovers, rejoice! Your egg prices are safe at this beloved establishment.

There’s One Restaurant Where You Can Still Enjoy Eggs for Breakfast on the Cheap

You may have noticed a big change while shopping at your favorite grocery store lately: Egg prices have gone through the roof. Thanks to the nationwide egg shortage, gone are the days of paying $2 to $3 for a dozen eggs. In fact, prices for this once-cheap staple can now top $12 per dozen. Yes, you read that right: That’s up $1 for an individual egg!
Unfortunately, there’s no relief in sight. The U.S. Department of Agriculture predicted earlier this month that egg prices will increase by a whopping 20% by year’s end, largely due to the spread of bird flu.
It’s not just home cooks who are scrambled by eggflation. Egg prices are so high that some restaurants, including breakfast-heavy chains like Waffle House and Denny’s, have had to impose temporary egg surcharges on menu items that contain eggs. One Reddit user even shared that some local delis are pressing pause on making egg sandwiches due to the increased costs.
However, one chain restaurant has vowed to not increase its menu prices despite the ongoing egg shortage. Keep reading to find out where you can continue to get your favorite egg sandwich without paying even one penny more.

Which restaurant is keeping its egg prices the same?
If there’s one restaurant determined to keep egg prices the same despite rising costs, it’s McDonald’s.
“Unlike others making news recently, you definitely WON’T see McDonald’s USA issuing surcharges on eggs,” said Michael Gonda, McDonald’s chief impact officer, in a post on LinkedIn. Impressively, all of McDonald’s eggs are 100% cage-free and sourced within the United States.
The Egg McMuffin made its nationwide debut in 1975 and has become a customer favorite over the past 50 years. On average, an Egg McMuffin costs just over $4 nationwide, though the price differs slightly from one region to the next. Luckily, prices for the iconic breakfast sandwich aren’t changing any time soon.
How many eggs does McDonald’s use annually?
McDonald’s breakfast menu is as legendary as its regular menu, and the number of eggs the restaurant chain uses annually proves it. As of 2015, McDonald’s reportedly used 2 billion eggs per year. That’s a lot of eggs, and that’s got to cost a pretty penny, especially when you consider how much egg prices have risen lately.
However, that doesn’t mean that McDonald’s sells 2 billion Egg McMuffins every year. The breakfast menu is vast, and it features nine sandwiches that include eggs, from McGriddles to Biscuits to the Big Breakfast plate with scrambled eggs.
Fun fact: When the Egg McMuffin was introduced in 1975, it cost just 63 cents. In 2025, you can’t even get a single egg for that price!
