A little over a year ago, I was in my third trimester of pregnancy and found it impossible to get comfortable. My chronic back pain was exasperated by pregnancy, and I couldn’t get comfy, whether I was sitting on the couch or in an office chair. The pain was especially annoying when trying to sleep, and I was desperate to find a body pillow that worked.

From U-shaped pregnancy pillows to wedge and cube pillows, I tried just about every pillow shape out there—and nothing quite hit the mark. Fast forward to now, and I still have trouble getting comfortable in bed and sleeping on my stomach. I find that I’m most comfortable curled up on my side, with a cooling blanket stretched out in front of me and looped between my legs.

When I spotted the Buffy Wiggle Pillow on social media, I knew I had to test it out. I loved the look of the sherpa cover and thought it was especially cute knotted up. The body pillows I purchased during pregnancy were hideous, and I was constantly stuffing them out of sight when guests came over. I hoped the Wiggle Pillow would provide the support I longed for from a body pillow while also looking stylish. Here’s my honest Wiggle Pillow review.

Buffy Wiggle Pillow

An extra-long, floppy body pillow, perfect for wrapping around your back or tucking under your belly.

What is the Buffy Wiggle Pillow?

The Buffy Wiggle Pillow is an extra-long, 82-inch body pillow that wraps around your body in countless positions.

The Wiggle Pillow isn’t overstuffed, either. Its floppy body allows it to tuck nicely under your knee, neck or belly without too much push. It can “wiggle” into all the necessary nooks and crannies to make sleep more comfortable. It’s designed for anyone who likes the hugging feel of a full-sized body pillow, and it’s ideal for expecting moms looking for full-body comfort and support from a pregnancy pillow.

“A body pillow can help with comfort during pregnancy and postpartum recovery,” says Sosha Lewis, a Sleep Health Expert and Certified Sleep Science Coach at Mattress Clarity. “As the body changes, extra support helps lessen the strain on the hips, lower back, and joints. A body pillow helps with better spinal alignment, eases pressure points, and can improve sleep quality by making side sleeping more comfortable. It may also provide support for healing bodies and can even help with nursing positions.”

The Wiggle Pillow is long enough to support multiple areas at once, like your hips, lower back and knees. Its bendy design also means it can be tied in a cute knot to look like an accent pillow.

The pillow is filled with recycled spun plastic (approximately 55 plastic bottles worth), which provides a fluffy, cloud-like texture. It doesn’t sink like memory foam but provides some bounce back for more structured support.

If you add a cover, you can choose from 16 colors and patterns, some of which are sherpa fabric—so cozy! But you don’t have to add a cover; the pillow comes in a machine-washable lyocell cover that is safe for pets and kids. The eucalyptus lyocell blend also gets softer with each wash.

Since Wiggle Pillow covers are sold separately, you can grab an extra cover if one gets dirty or you decide to switch out bedding colors. The covers are pricey, though, costing about the same amount as the pillow itself.

How we tested it

I’ve struggled to find comfortable sleeping positions for nearly two years now since becoming pregnant with my first child. From the beginning of pregnancy to now, I’ve experienced severe sciatica that no amount of chiropractor appointments or physical therapy visits has been able to resolve.

So, I jumped at the chance to try the Buffy Wiggle Pillow. During pregnancy, I tried various U-shaped and J-shaped wrap-around body pillows and smaller wedge pillows, but nothing quite did the trick. The body pillows I bought were often overstuffed and didn’t fit into the crevices I needed them to. My memory foam wedge pillow was my greatest relief, which I wedged against my back or under my belly, depending on the day. I still occasionally use my trusty foam wedge pillow, but lately, I’ve gravitated toward the Wiggle Pillow for several reasons.

As soon as I took the Wiggle Pillow out of its packaging, I knew we would be friends. The cream-colored sherpa cover I chose looks and feels like a fuzzy jacket—a far cry from the sad, lumpy grey pregnancy pillow I used during my third trimester.

When tied in a knot, the Wiggle Pillow makes a stylish throw pillow that I’m not embarrassed to leave out on the sofa when guests come over. I’ve even gotten a few compliments on it, and friends are more impressed when I show them how it unfolds into the perfect body pillow for snuggly movie nights.

When I initially unboxed the Wiggle Pillow, I was worried it was underfilled. Truthfully, it was pretty limp when I unrolled and held it in the air. However, it took one night of sleeping with it to realize the floppy design was intentional. (If you like less filling where you rest your head, try the Coop adjustable pillow, too.)

The soft, flexible design of the Wiggle Pillow lets it bend and tuck, unlike other body pillows I’ve used. It fits comfortably between my knees, pulls nicely over a shoulder, and wedges against my back. While I no longer have my pregnant belly, I imagine it would have wedged comfortably underneath, which was definitely a concern of mine in the last trimester. Should I have another baby, the Wiggle Pillow will be the first pregnancy pillow I reach for.

  • Machine-washable cover
  • Lyocell cover contains no essential oils; pet- and kid-safe

Final verdict

So far, I’m really liking my experience with the Buffy Wiggle Pillow. Its extra-long length is perfect for me (I’m 5’8”), and I can wrap it around my entire body in whichever way is comfortable. I’m a big fan of the floppy design. It isn’t overstuffed, which can cause slipping, rolling and uncomfortable pushback in the wrong places.

Most of all, I really love the way it looks knotted as a throw pillow on my sectional sofa! It has become one of my favorite throw pillows and is super versatile from bedroom to living room. I also appreciate that it’s machine washable, so I can toss the cover in the wash if something spills on it.

I only wish that the covers were a bit lower in price. I’d love to have an additional cover for laundry day or to swap out colors, but the covers cost almost as much as the actual pillow. Still, I think the Wiggle is worth it if you’re in the market for a long, floppy pregnancy or body pillow.
