As someone who literally gets to shop for a living, I tend to become quite passionate about brands I love. I will sing the praises of Quince’s affordable luxury and Cozy Earth’s heavenly soft goods until my dying day. And when I say that Vuori makes the best activewear on the market, that’s a hill I am willing to die on.

This premium retailer currently has 82 retail stores nationwide with plans to have 100 locations by 2026. In other words, they’re growing pretty rapidly. Currently, the brand offers high-quality clothing and accessories for men and women. After treating myself to a pair of joggers and leggings a few years ago, I was thrilled by the softness and fit. After loads of wear over the past couple of years, I’ve decided that I will never spend money on another activewear brand ever again. Here’s why you shouldn’t, either.

Vuori Activewear

What is Vuori?

Vuori is an activewear brand that came onto the scene in 2015, with styles inspired by the coastal California lifestyle. In addition to being both stylish and comfortable, the brand is also committed to sustainability. They are Climate Neutral Certified, which means they are able to measure and offset all of their carbon emissions from making and delivering products in a given year. They also require their suppliers to adhere to a code of conduct that requires fair treatment of labor, safe and healthy working conditions and strict environmental practices.

How we tested Vuori

As a mom of four who spends my days working from home and shuttling my children to various activities, athleisure has been my daily uniform for close to a decade now. In fact, I’ve come to consider myself somewhat of an athleisure connoisseur, if you will. When I first came across Vuori on my social media feeds, I admit that I was skeptical. With price points comparable to Lululemon, I wasn’t sure I wanted to shell out beaucoup bucks for a lesser-known brand. But alas, I ordered because, well, research. And I’m so glad that I did. So, without further ado, here is everything you need to know before filling your cart.

Women’s activewear reviews

Whether you’re lounging, hiking or hitting the gym, Vuori’s activewear will make you feel comfy but not frumpy. My first-ever Vuori order consisted of a pair of the brand’s best-selling performance joggers and daily pocket leggings.

The joggers, which are made with the brand’s super soft Dreamknit fabric, have a four-way stretch and can be worn in your normal size or sized up for an oversized look. I opted for my normal size, and they fit perfectly. They even stretched enough to accommodate the early stages of my last pregnancy.

These buttery soft joggers have a slim but relaxed fit. They fit true to size, but you can size up for an oversized look.

The leggings, on the other hand, are made using Vuori’s BreatheInterlock performance stretch knit fabric. They don’t have the same buttery soft feeling as the Dreamknit fabric and I was a bit thrown by having a drawstring on my leggings. But once I put them on, they became an instant favorite. They offer just the right amount of compression, and I’m a huge fan of anything with pockets. It’s also worth noting that pocket-free styles are available if that’s how you roll.

After dozens of wears and washes, these leggings still look and feel brand new.

While the superior fit and comfort of my new pants was undeniable, I didn’t become a die-hard Vuori enthusiast until recently, when I was clearing out my overflowing pants drawer. As I began pulling out pair after pair, it hit me that after countless wears and washes—don’t judge, but I wear them two to three times a week—my Vuori pants still look brand new.

I put them next to another pair of leggings, which, because of their unique color, had only been worn a handful of times. Despite being worn far less than my Vuori leggings, this pair was covered in pulls and pills. It could be a different fabric, but then I took a closer look at my trusty joggers, which have a similar feel to the pilled leggings. Once again, I was amazed to see that my years-old joggers still look as good as new.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve added to my Vuori collection. Last summer, after seeing the brand’s Villa collection all over my social media feeds, I finally bit the bullet and ordered the wide-leg pants and shorts along with a few other staples. Since the collection was marketed as being ideal for travel, I planned on wearing it during my long flight from New York to Seattle. I was delighted to find that the shorts were indeed as comfortable as I had expected, but my excitement was short-lived. Though I had ordered them in the same size, the pants seemed to run much smaller than the shorts. The shorts fit perfectly, while the pants were too tight across my derriere. Considering the fact that all of my other Vuori items have fit true to size, I’m guessing that the pants I received were either mislabeled or from a bad batch. And sure, I could have returned them thanks to Vuori’s generous 120-day return policy, but I opted to hang onto them for when I lost some of my lingering baby weight. Almost a year later, I’m excited to wear them once milder temperatures hit.

Another staple from the brand is the Halo oversized hoodie. This buttery soft hoodie is oversized without being obscenely large or baggy. It’s so breathable and lightweight that I take it with me every time I travel. It’s perfect for planes and chilly hotel rooms. This winter, I also started wearing it to my OrangeTheory classes three times a week. Since I go to the first class of the day, which happens to be at 5:30 a.m., the studio is often freezing. This sweatshirt is light enough to run, row and lift in until I’m warm enough to take it off. After months of frequent workouts and washes, it’s still in impeccable shape.

Men’s activewear reviews

Since I love the brand so much, I bought my husband a few staples for Christmas. Unlike me, he doesn’t live in athleisure and has always insisted that whether his workout pants cost $20 or $100, it’s all the same to him. I begged to differ. I opted for the men’s Sunday performance joggers and Ponto performance half-zip hoodie for home and the gym, along with a cotton cashmere sweater and the Meta pant for the office. My selections convinced him that all activewear is not created equal.

“It’s definitely high quality,” he raves. “It fits well and doesn’t fall apart in the wash. I also like how breathable it is.” He then went on to explain how unlike his other sweaters and joggers, the collars and cuffs on his Vuori products don’t stretch or fray. “It’s just really well made,” he says.

At the gym, my husband appreciates the joggers’ breathability and zip pocket. The pocket is big enough to hold his wallet and once he zips it closed, he doesn’t have to worry about it falling out when he runs.

These joggers are made with a breathable, mid weight premium technical knit fabric and have an athletic slim fit. They feature a zippered pocket that is just the right size for his phone, keys or wallet.

Speaking of the gym, my husband also prefers to head to the gym at the crack of dawn. Since we live in the northeast, where it’s chilly at best and freezing at worst in the mornings, he usually layers his Vuori hoodie over his T-shirt. “Even though it’s a half zipper, it’s roomy enough where I can easily pull it off once I start to get warm,” he explains.

Soft, breathable and practical are the best words to describe Vuori's Ponto Performance Half Zip Hoodie.

When he’s not working out, my husband is one of those people who prefers to get dressed in real clothes every day. Even on the days he works from home. That’s why the Meta pant is perfect for him. With a five-pocket silhouette and tapered legs, these pants make him feel put together but allow him to be comfortable at the same time. “They’re the most comfortable work pants I’ve ever owned,” he raves.

A 5-pocket silhouette and tapered leg give these pants a professional look. Their technical, stretch fabric give them a comfortable feel that he'll appreciate all day long.

Vuori outerwear reviews

In addition to activewear, Vuori has an impressive line of outerwear that includes everything from shackets to trench coats and parkas. As someone who runs hot, I don’t like heavy winter coats. So rather than order a heavy down coat or parka, I ordered the brand’s Sycamore full-zip jacket. I sized up so that it would fit comfortably over a sweater or sweatshirt and have worn it almost every day for the last six months. To say that this jacket is warm and cozy would be an understatement. Made of textured sherpa fleece, this jacket is heavenly. The only downside is that it has a tendency to sell out. In fact, Vuori’s outerwear always seems to sell out quickly. So when you find something you like, you’ll want to add it to your cart immediately.

Textured sherpa fleece, loads of useful pockets and a classic fit make this jacket a must-have when the temperatures start to drop.

As a newly minted soccer dad, my husband needed something to wear on the field. He opted for the Tuuli rain jacket. This waterproof jacket kept him warm and dry during rainy practices and games and didn’t leave him feeling stifled on warmer days. As I did with my jacket, he ordered a size up so that he could comfortably wear it over a sweatshirt as the temperatures cooled down. “It’s really comfortable, and I can move around in it,” he explains. “I actually won’t mind being out in the rain now, thanks to this jacket.”

Vuori's Tuuli Rain Jacket is fully waterproof. It features an adjustable hood and cuffs along with multiple pockets to keep all of his essentials close and dry.

The Bottom Line

I’ll cut right to the chase. Vuori isn’t cheap. A pair of leggings can set you back anywhere from $89 to $128 and the brand doesn’t hold sales. However, you get what you pay for. All of their clothing is well-made and holds up to frequent washes and wears. (Even when you don’t always follow the brand’s recommended care instructions.) And if you’re hesitant to spend that much on a brand you’ve never tried before, don’t be. If you’re not in love with your purchase, you have 120 days to initiate a free return unless the item is marked final sale.
